Halloween 2026 belonged to the tribute. The biggest names in Black entertainment spent the weekend dressing as the legends who raised them, and the results were part costume party, part history lesson.

Janet and Michael Jackson showed up twice in one weekend. Diana Ross, Mary J. Blige, Eartha Kitt and Aaliyah all got their flowers from a new generation. And one star skipped the tribute route completely and built something the world had never seen.

We collected 30 verified looks from the stars’ own posts and ranked every one. Now the crown is up to you. Read the list, then cast your vote in the comments and tell us who won Halloween.

Major Takeaways

  • Keke Palmer and her son Leo turned a Jackson family tribute into the most loved post of the weekend, passing a million likes.
  • Janelle Monáe built an original creature from scratch instead of copying a legend.
  • Gabourey Sidibe turned an internet meme into the funniest costume of the year.
  • The winner is your call. Voting is open in the comments right now.
