Rockstar Games just gave gamers the morning they have been waiting on for years. The studio released the official GTA VI launch trailer on October 15, and the 90 second clip is packed with story, action, and a brand new song. The game arrives November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, so this trailer is the opening shot of the final countdown.

A 90 Second Look at Jason and Lucia
The GTA VI launch trailer introduces the two main characters, Jason and Lucia. The clip lays out their story in a fast moving highlight reel. Jason is a former soldier who fell on hard times after his military career ended.
He gets a call from Lucia, and the pair get pulled into a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida. Vice City is the neon soaked heart of it all. The fictional city is based on Miami, and the trailer paints it as the sunniest place in America with a very dark underbelly.
Jason and Lucia play like a modern Bonnie and Clyde, forced to rely on each other to survive. Rockstar says the trailer was captured entirely on a PlayStation 5. That is the base console, which means the visuals in the clip are what everyday players can expect.

SZA Leads the GTA VI Music Moment
The trailer debuts a brand new song called Flower in a Hurricane. The track comes from French electronic duo Justice, who composed the original score for the game. SZA and Tame Impala handle the singing, with guitar work from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
The song will appear on Grand Theft Auto VI The Album, the official soundtrack. Rockstar announced the album last month as a 34 track collection of original music made for the game. Early singles include music from Travis Scott and PinkPantheress.
This matters for the culture. SZA is one of the biggest R and B voices in the world, and her placement at the center of the biggest game launch in history is a statement. Rockstar knows that Black music drives its worlds, and this trailer puts that front and center.
Why Black Gamers Should Pay Attention
Beyond SZA, the GTA VI lineup is full of nods to the culture. Rockstar revealed its first six in game radio stations on October 8. Dirty South Classics is dedicated to regional rap and hip hop classics, hosted by Miami rap veterans Trick Daddy and Trina.
AfroBank FM brings African music and amapiano, hosted by Burna Boy. Cocoteo FM covers modern Latin music with Bad Bunny on the mic. These are not background extras. In Grand Theft Auto games, the radio is where players live, and Rockstar is handing the aux cord to artists the community already loves.
Grand Theft Auto has always been a love letter to Black music. This time the love letter is official, credited, and everywhere.

The Countdown to November 19
This is the first major new single player release from Rockstar since Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. The studio pushed the launch back twice to polish the game, and the trailer arrives just over a month before release day.
A PC version is reportedly set to follow in early 2027. For now, the focus is on console players, and the marketing push is about to get very loud. Expect TV spots, more music drops, and nonstop clips across social media.
Grand Theft Auto VI is more than a game at this point. It is a cultural event, and this trailer is the starting gun.
