Sean “Diddy” Combs has a new date circled on the calendar. Federal prison records now project his release for February 6, 2028, more than three weeks earlier than the March 2, 2028 date that stood last month.

The change showed up in Bureau of Prisons records on Monday. No official explanation came with it, and it is not yet clear why the date moved when it did.

Major Takeaways

The Bureau of Prisons now projects February 6, 2028 for the release of Sean Combs, up from March 2, 2028. The change follows his October transfer from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania. His projected date has shifted repeatedly in both directions, and his appeal remains pending.

The new date follows his transfer last month from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed the move in October and declined to discuss the reasons behind it, citing privacy, safety and security.

Allenwood Low is a low security federal prison south of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, about 155 miles west of New York City. It holds a fraction of the inmates housed at Fort Dix.

His Fort Dix months were rough ones in the record. He was placed in a special housing unit, away from the general population, and he was docked 41 days of good conduct credit.

Losing that credit pushed his projected release back to March 2, 2028. The change posted Monday gives back 24 days of that lost ground in a single move.

This date has never sat still. Earlier projections at various points included January 21, February 5 and February 20, all in 2028, before the March 2 date took hold last month.

Combs, 56, is serving 50 months, four years and two months, after a federal jury in July 2025 convicted him on two counts of transporting people across state lines for prostitution. The same jury cleared him of the racketeering and sex trafficking charges that carried the possibility of life in prison.

He was sentenced that October and ordered to pay a fine of 500,000 dollars. He has been in custody since his arrest in September 2024, held first in Brooklyn and then at Fort Dix before the Pennsylvania move.

His lawyers are still fighting the conviction itself. An appeal asking the courts to overturn the verdict or free him remains pending, and no ruling so far has changed his status.

A projected release date is a calculation, not a promise. It rests on credits and conduct, and it can move again in either direction, as his own record this year has already proven more than once.

For now, February 6, 2028 is the date. What happens inside Allenwood between now and that morning will decide whether it holds.
