Kindred, good morning, good afternoon, or good evening, wherever you’re tuning in, this is Urban City News, your station for headlines that inform, stories that inspire, and a perspective that motivates you to live with purpose. I’m your host, Dr. Mary Michelle, and here are today’s top stories. Let’s start with the story lighting up social media feeds.
Last night, the internet was ablaze again because apparently Kanye West and Amber Rose just can’t seem to leave each other in the past. The exes came for each other and went at it on Twitter like it was 2010 all over again, and ooh, the gloves were off. Amber Rose threw the first punch, basically saying she still can’t get over or understand why Kanye had chosen Kim Kardashian over her.
Amber blasted Ye for quote, having four kids with a woman known for a tape, while Amber complained she couldn’t even get one baby with him. She claimed she was ready to be everything for Ye, ready to ride or die, build an empire, and be the ultimate black power couple, but instead she got stuck with Wiz Khalifa. Y’all, she didn’t shade at Wiz.
Amber said Wiz was a weed junkie who don’t talk business or the future. Nasty! But you know Ye wasn’t about to let any of that stuff that Amber said about him slide. Kanye clapped back quick, telling Amber to respect his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, but then he twisted the knife saying Amber only got famous off, well, let’s just say their bedroom activities.
These were his words, not mine now, but Kendrick. Then came the knockout punch. Kanye said, you are both the same, I just chose a smarter one.
Ouch! Kanye basically said Amber Rose and Kim Kardashian are cut from the same cloth. Kim just played the game better. The timeline ate it up.
Of course, some teams on the internet are shouting Amber said what we were all thinking, while other teams argue Ye was cold, but not exactly wrong. So here we are again, Kanye versus Amber, a saga that refuses to die. Urban City fam, what do you think? Was Amber speaking the truth about what could have been or is Kanye right that she just needs to let it go? Tag us at Urban City Podcast and let us know your take.
We might feature your comments in the next broadcast. And while that drama had folks laughing, another celebrity headline has fans worried. Lil Nas X was allegedly arrested and charged with four felonies, then later hospitalized upon his release, reportedly all for what seemed to have been a mental health breakdown, while partially dressed and out in public.
This is bigger than a celebrity scandal. It’s a reminder of how real life, how fame, how pressure and how mental health collide in ways that can be overwhelming for anybody. We’ll keep following this story closely, but in the meantime, we want to hear from you.
Do you think enough support exists for mental health in the music industry? Do you think this is part of that demonic stuff people were warning would catch up with Lil Nas X? Drop your thoughts in the comments or on social media at Urban City Podcast. Now, on the international front, world leaders recently gathered at the United Nations Climate Summit in Geneva and reached a landmark agreement to speed up renewable energy adoption. More than 80 nations pledged to triple solar and wind energy production by 2035.
This move could cut global carbon emissions dramatically within the next decade if promises are kept now. While challenges remain, this is a huge step toward a greener future. It’s a reminder that the health of our planet depends on unity and that even the choices we make at home, how we travel, how we eat, how we consume, all add up to create global impact.
In Ethiopia, peace talks between government officials and regional leaders are showing real signs of months of conflict. For the first time in years, humanitarian corridors have reopened, allowing food, medicine, and clean water to reach thousands of displaced families. Observers warn that peace is fragile and that reopening the aid routes is a powerful sign of what dialogue can truly achieve.
This sobering story is also a hopeful one, serving as a reminder that reconciliation and conversation will always outweigh destruction. In national news, the latest jobs report from Washington, D.C. shows the U.S. economy added more than 200,000 jobs last month, beating expectations. Unemployment remains historically low, with strong growth in clean energy, health care, and technology.
These figures aren’t just numbers on a chart now. They’re families regaining stability, young people finding opportunities, and communities building back their strength. The Affordable Care Act marketplace has reached a record 20 million enrollees for health coverage.
Experts say that this milestone shows how much access really matters. For millions of families, it means peace of mind, security, and a chance to live without the fear of a single medical bill changing everything. The U.S. Department of Education also announced another $7 billion in student loan forgiveness, aimed at borrowers who were misled by predatory for-profit institutions.
While debates about student debt relief continue, one fact remains. Education must be a pathway, not a prison. Relief for some is progress for us all.
Today’s local news focuses on the state of Pennsylvania. In Philadelphia, city officials have launched the Affordable Housing Accelerator Program to address rising rents. This initiative supports first-time home buyers while revitalizing unused city lots.
Urban residents are hopeful this will mean stronger neighborhoods, more stability, and opportunities to grow. It proves that investing in housing is, indeed, investing in people. Meanwhile, in Lancaster County, dairy farmers are embracing robotic milking systems to combat labor shortages and boost production.
These innovations are helping Pennsylvania’s family farms stay alive while preparing for the future. It’s a story of tradition, meeting technology, and heritage finding new life. And kindred! Here are three great events happening this weekend that you might want to take part in.
At the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, the Ice Age Frozen in Time exhibit runs this weekend, opening 9.30 a.m. and closing at 4.30 p.m. It’s a journey through prehistoric wonders, perfect for curious families and anyone with a love for the ancient past. In Miami, local artist Hermita is wrapping up the Ossicily Art Series this Thursday evening at Casa La Rubia, a vibrant finale inspired by Bad Bunny’s emotional residency. It’s filled with expression, emotion, and community.
In New York, the U.S. Open Fan Week is still underway through Sunday. It includes free grounds access, Arthur Ashe Kids Day, and entertainment galore before match play begins. How about this? If you’re heading to any of these events, don’t forget to snap a photo and tag us at Urban City Podcast.
