Major Takeaways

  • Wong teaser options are slim in Week 2, with only the Colts, Buccaneers, and Patriots fitting traditional criteria.

  • Rising costs at sportsbooks (up to -140) make teaser strategy less profitable if not carefully selected.

  • Some bettors are considering non-traditional legs like Panthers or mega teasers for fun, but sharp money still favors disciplined Wong plays

NFL Week 2 Teasers: Colts, Buccaneers, Patriots Among Limited Wong Options

Again, it’s I think they’re a little undervalued. We’ve discussed this before. I was trying to look at some docks maybe to tease up to get to double digits. I just don’t know if that’s really worth it. It’s gotten ridiculous, dude. The minus 140 is standard for some teasers at books. That’s crazy. Are you dramatically shifting your opinion on a team after one week? There are a couple teaser options this week. Uh we talked about how last week almost literally just a couple. Yeah, there’s three. Uh well, from a Wong teaser perspective, there are other n And so that’s what I tease whatever you want in life. Yes. Is there you can tease whatever you want. There’s also a handful that still go through key numbers, but it’s more the seven and the 10 than it is the three and the seven. So do with that what you will. Last week though, week one teasers were very successful. If you were going with the standard way. I know you and I both had a couple of them in pocket that came through. Although admittedly I was very much so rooting against the Broncos at one point. I was like I will happily lose this teaser if we knock out 7,000 plus in Survivor. But that didn’t come through. But good week for teasers to start. Yeah. So if you looked if you just went like purely Wong teaser which again is you’re getting through the two key numbers. Um last week there was no combination on those closing numbers that you lost with Eagles from 8 to two Broncos from 8 and 1 half to 2 and 1/2 Raiders from 2 and 1/2 up to 8 and 1/2. Seahawks from 2 and 1/2 up to 8 and 1/2. And then the Bills from 1 and 1/2 to 7 and 1/2. All of those legs won no matter obviously if they all win. No matter what the combination of teasers that you used in week one, you won. So this week, if you’re just going again by strictly the the concept of the Wong teaser and getting through those two key numbers, there’s not really that many options. As you mentioned, there’s three that are sitting on the board right now. You can tease up the Patriots from one and a half point dogs to 7 and 1/2 points. Uh Colts from two to eight and the Buccaneers from 2 and 1/2 to 8 1/2. Uh but not many options outside of that. And then you factor in again what we’ve discussed with these these teaser prices. If you’re actually somewhere where these are still relative where they’re still expensive or they’re getting more expensive by the day, which by the way, you see the value of it to an extent. It’s not going to happen every time like that, but when we talk about every combination of a teaser leg winning, you can see why these are getting more expensive. But we’ll see if this is going to come to fruition this week, but three really only solid options for you right now. Let’s go through each one of these. Um, I think the of those three that are your traditional ones, the Buccaneers call out to me on that part of the Monday night double header in Houston taking on the Texans, a Texans team that didn’t look great to start the season. And I just we we’ve been high on the Bucks. You think they’re going to be the top seed in the NFC, right? So, one and0, baby. Bringing that up to the the eight and a half, I feel like, is a good one. But you’re obviously an Indianapolis Colts fan. You watch that team very closely. You liked what you saw against Miami. a different test in Denver, but a Broncos team that also didn’t look the way that they had been hyped throughout the entirety of the off seasonason. And Bo Knicks did not look good in week one. No. Um, not at all. And I I do think that this is going to be a viable teaser league. Again, you get the low total, you’re at 42 and a half, you can get it up to the key numbers, get to eight and a half. It’s got all of Yep. It’s got all the makings of being a pretty strong teaser. Again, if you can find somewhere that charges a price that you find palatable. And you hit on the head. So, when I was on with Jensen and Dave this morning, Jensen asked me the question in the f in in the frame of, “Hey, the Colts are stepping up in in uh in weight class when you’re talking about this offense going up against now the Denver Broncos.” My rebuttal was, but is the defense stepping up in weight class taking on this Broncos offense, which as you mentioned at home in what we discussed, if you were setting up week one scenarios, there’s not that many that you would set up in a in a position where is there a better spot for a home team than being at home with a defense that you had playing where you’re at with your natural home environment and home and field advantage against a rookie quarterback and they still were scuffling the whole time and Bow Knicks did not look good as you mentioned. I think this Colts team is again it’s I think they’re a little undervalued. We’ve discussed this before. We saw a glimpse of that against Miami. So, if you feel comfortable, like I do in looking at this Colts team from an undervalued standpoint, then for sure getting this up through key numbers is going to be great. I I don’t think it’s going to get to three. I’ I’d feel I’d feel somewhat actually I think I’d be shocked if this got to a full three against Indianapolis, barring any injury news that occurs potentially during the week of practice. Now, if we look through some maybe more non-traditional ones, what about like the Ravens, for example, who are a double- digit favorite, looking at DraftKings laying 11 and a half. What if you brought that down to five and a half against the Cleveland Browns or No, because it’s a divisional contest. Yeah, I mean it’s divisional and what like are you really getting any strong value from there? Like you said, maybe like 10 and seven, but those traditionally aren’t like what you’re looking for for getting through. But I mean, if you’re looking around, I I just I was trying to look at some dogs maybe to tease up to get to double digits. Sure. Um, you’re you’re uh the Saints against your 49ers. I mean, honestly, like I dep it depends on what you think about it and the health, but I’m probably not going to play it, but I wouldn’t hate on anybody that did. Um, you can get the Panthers up from 6 and a half to 12 and a half if you think that last week was maybe a little bit of an anomaly or the Cardinals did. I mean, they didn’t look awesome either. And is Kyler Murray still dealing with a little bit of an illness? Is that still going to bother him a touch? Um, so yeah, six and a half to 12 and a half there. You can bring the Bears up from four and a half to 10 and a half in Detroit against the Lions after what we saw from Detroit offensively week one. Like any of those interest you at all? No. What interests me is uh I want to go to I got to go to a book this Sunday and fill out some, you know, those old school like super mega teasers. Like those are a ton of fun. I like those. I want to want to get like a 10. Yeah. Like 10 team 10 point. Yeah. Just put one in and let’s see what happens. No, I mean I Bills just to win. You could do like there’s just a few of those. Just some ridiculous ones out there. Bills plus seven, you know, things like that. Um, no, I I I just it sucks to kind of poo poo this, but if you’re factoring in the prices that you’re actually laying with some of these teasers, some of these shops, and then you go through and you’re just kind of getting some of these numbers where all right, yeah, like Panthers from six and a half to 12 and a half, I can understand the the attraction to something like that, especially somebody who thinks like seven is um somewhat high. Uh, I just don’t know if that’s really worth it. But hey, man, if we’re stringing together like, you know, if we’re throwing back some What’s our uh what are the drinks we were drinking out in Omaha or the the Sun Cruisers or whatever? Oh, uh, Surf Sides. Yeah, if we’re throwing back like some Surf Sides and we need something and we just need something. We put together like a 16 or bad boys. Some of the like and I I love teasers and I swear by them, but like the cheapest I can find out here is like 125 now. Yeah, it’s gotten ridiculous, dude. Well, it goes the minus 140 is standard for some teasers at books. That’s crazy. Yeah. I will say I mean to the point of all this too, there’s a couple different ways you can look at it. You can go the poo poo like you can’t be doing that. You got to tease through two or like you’re talking about which is I don’t know man like let’s just gamble and have some fun. Let’s just see what we can do and let’s just see if the Panthers can stay inside of 12 and a half against the Cardinals with a couple of other legs that we like here. Um which again that’s why I like that. Yeah. on the surface looking at that and asking the Panther the Panthers don’t cover 12 and a half. Come on. Then it’s just it’s so we’re definitely over. Can Can we go there though? Do you like what is your evaluation of Carolina right now after week one? Like when you walked away from that game, what were you thinking? I mean, I don’t really like a ton of what you saw for Bryce Young. turnovers were a little worrisome, especially when you’re talking about the way the decision-m, but he he wasn’t terrible. You don’t like 4.4 yards per attempt overall, but I think that there’s one of those It’s like we talk about with all these teams through week one. Are you really are you dramatically shifting your opinion on a team after one week? I think we’ve done a pretty good job when we’ve talked about every single one of these teams coming out of week one. has we’ve t Have we talked about any of them in the sense of dramatically changing what our preseason priors were? Yeah. After watching them, I think there’s a couple of teams you can make the argument, yeah, maybe if you’re high on Houston, for example, and you see the offensive line have its issues, but I don’t think you’re looking at one data point and saying, “All right, this is it. They’re cooked. This is now the worst team in the NFL.” So, I’m going to be pretty stubborn through the first couple of weeks, not changing too much about what I thought about the Carolina Panthers. And this is a much different opportunity, I think, going out there playing indoors, not having to worry about a lightning delay. Not that that really mattered in the grand scheme of things against Jacksonville against an opponent that I think is much, I guess, much more on your level considering that I was high in Jacksonville and they showed every bit of the at least improvements that you could expect from me. Yeah, I honestly I think that I could see myself doing that this week. the the legs that I like are Panthers up to 12 and a half. I like the Bucks up to eight and a half. And I like bringing the Bills down to win. Okay. And so any combination of those I feel like I’m probably going to end up doing. Thanks for watching. But don’t let the betting insights end here.
